Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to Hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. Hip-hop dance was created in the 1970’s, this type of dance includes a variety of different styles such as: uprock, break dance also known as â€Å"breaking†, and funky styles. There are just so many different components to hip-hop dance. Hip-hop dance constantly builds up from it’s roots. Each dance builds off of one another in a unique way. Hip-hop dance is very interesting and it has such a rich history background to it. So many successful artists and producers became famous for their hip hop dance background. Breaking was created in the Bronx of New York City. This style of dance originated as a part of the hip-hop culture amongst African American and Latino youths in New York city. Breaking consisted of four different types of dances. The first style is called top rock, footwork oriented steps performed while standing up. The s econd style is called downrock, footwork performed with both hands and feet on the floor. The third style is called freezes, which are stylish poses done on your hands. The fourth and last style that makes up break dancing are power moves, which are complex and impressive acrobatic moves. When hip hop dance was first created breaking was the only hip hop dance style because of Dj Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa.
